2020 – What a year it was! The Year of Perfect Vision, yet hardly anyone saw what was coming. It was a year for rolling with the punches and flexible planning, if there ever was one. All sorts of things happened, but as far as Dingo Vacations went, the Covid-19 pandemic had the most impact. By the time Lupe’s Summer of 2020 rolled around, it was clear that a 5th annual return to Canada and Alaska for The Most High Exalted Dingo of the Arctic Sisterhood wasn’t in the cards.
So now what? The American Dingo went big! For the first time since 2015, Loopster remained in the lower 48, visiting only 3 nearby states – Wyoming, Montana, and Utah – 3 very mountainous states with oodles of grand peaks to choose from! Lupe climbed 4 of the top 10 highest peaks she’d ever been to, including Francs Peak, East Temple Peak, and Atlantic Peak in Wyoming, and King’s Peak, the Carolina Dog’s 4th state high point, in Utah.
Looper returned to the spine of Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains with an ascent of Darton Peak, braved the mighty Beartooths of Montana on a journey to Mystic Lake, the Froze to Death Plateau, and Tempest Peak, where she saw fearsome Granite Peak, Montana’s state high point up close. Lupe might not have been able to visit Canada, but she peered into it through a smoky haze from West Butte of the Sweetgrass Hills along the Montana border.
By mid-August, smoke from the wildfires that raged in the western US started chasing Lupe out of the mountains, but she kept coming back, dodging not only smoke, but a freak Labor Day blizzard, as well.
