July – mid-summer was cranking up the heat, and the American Dingo was going big on her 2nd Dingo Vacation of 2018! Two exhausting, yet exhilarating, backpacking trips to the summits of Bomber Mountain in the Bighorn Mountains, at 12,840 feet the highest peak Lupe would climb this year, and Squaretop Mountain, the long sought after mighty sentinel of the NW Wind River Range, were huge successes.
That wasn’t all! In the northern Bighorns, Lupe revisited Duncum Mountain then went on to Sheep Mountain, and even the Big Horn County High Point in Montana. Before it was all over, the Carolina Dog had visited the summits of two more county prominence peaks in far SW Wyoming, too – Uinta County’s sagebrush-clad Medicine Butte, and the giant S-facing crescent of Little Mountain in Sweetwater County.
Not that many peaks in 10 days, but perseverance paid off big time with glorious successes, fabulous views, and adventures galore! Lupe’s brand new Marmot “tiny house” proved its worth, too!
