The highest peak on the R is <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=57031\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Union Hill<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(6,120 ft.)<\/span><\/strong>. Lupe had been there on <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/adventuresoflupe.com\/?p=9317\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Expedition No. 194<\/strong><\/a><\/span>. Although the topo maps show the true summit of Summit Peak\u00a0at the SW (R) end of the ridge, Lupe remains quite certain it is at the NE (L) end. The highest peak on the L is Five Points.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Once again, Lupe returned to the G6 (1:52 PM) by the same route she had taken to the mountain.\u00a0 This time SPHP let her in.\u00a0 She still had plenty of time\u00a0to climb\u00a0another peak, but a ride was in order to get closer to her next objective.\u00a0 Lupe enjoyed barking at\u00a0several cows and horses along the way.<\/p>\n<p>SPHP parked the G6 again 3 or 4 miles farther E where Centennial Trail No. 89 crosses\u00a0Old Hill City Road\u00a0(2:07 PM, 46\u00b0F).\u00a0 <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=-59059\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ingersoll Peak<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(5,356 ft.)<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0was Lupe&#8217;s next destination.\u00a0 It was somewhere not too far off to the NE, but SPHP wasn&#8217;t completely certain exactly how far away it was.\u00a0 A mile or two, maybe?\u00a0 The plan was to follow Centennial Trail No. 89 going N a little way before leaving it to turn E to search for the peak.<\/p>\n<p>Lupe set out crossing the 1880 Train tracks\u00a0and Battle Creek\u00a0immediately N of Old Hill City Road.\u00a0 She continued N on Centennial Trail No. 89.\u00a0 The trail led gradually up a side valley where a mix of pines and aspens lined both sides of the trail.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9967\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9967\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4487.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-9967\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4487-1024x768.jpg?resize=660%2C495\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"495\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4487.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4487.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4487.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4487.jpg?w=1651&amp;ssl=1 1651w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4487.jpg?w=1320&amp;ssl=1 1320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9967\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">After crossing the 1880 Train tracks and Battle Creek, Lupe followed Centennial Trail No. 89 going N up a gentle side valley. A mix of pines and aspens lined both sides of the trail. It was now close to mid-afternoon. Only a little melting snow remained. Photo looked NNE.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lupe hadn&#8217;t gone too far when a logging road left Centennial Trail No. 89 heading up the ridge to the E.\u00a0 Why not follow it\u00a0to see if Ingersoll Peak could be seen from up there?\u00a0 Lupe took the logging road.<\/p>\n<p>The logging road faded away before even reaching the top of the ridge.\u00a0 Lupe kept going, though, and managed to get there.\u00a0 The forest had been thinned, but not enough to see much off to the E.\u00a0 However, it appeared the ridge gained more elevation to the NE, which seemed to be the right direction to go.<\/p>\n<p>Lupe struck off following the ridgeline.\u00a0 It had minor ups and downs, but on the whole she was gaining elevation.\u00a0 After reaching a couple of high spots where there still wasn&#8217;t much to see, she finally came to a rock outcropping on the E side of the ridge where there was a view.\u00a0 Ingersoll Peak was in sight, but farther away than SPHP expected.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9968\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9968\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4488-e1493730042385.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-9968\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4488-e1493730042385-768x1024.jpg?resize=660%2C880\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"880\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4488-e1493730042385.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4488-e1493730042385.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4488-e1493730042385.jpg?w=1650&amp;ssl=1 1650w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4488-e1493730042385.jpg?w=1320&amp;ssl=1 1320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9968\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">From this rock outcropping, Lupe got her first look at Ingersoll Peak. It was farther away than SPHP expected. Photo looks E.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It took a while to get there.\u00a0 Lupe tried to go around the N end of an intervening valley to avoid losing elevation, but it didn&#8217;t work.\u00a0 The valley was too long.\u00a0 She wound up turning E and going down into two sizable valleys separated by a lower ridge\u00a0before the terrain allowed her to\u00a0climb out again and regain all her\u00a0lost elevation.<\/p>\n<p>Once she was out of the second valley, Loop came across a dirt road leading NE toward even higher ground.\u00a0\u00a0Before long it\u00a0curved around to the SE and brought her to the base of Ingersoll Peak&#8217;s W slope.\u00a0 Here Lupe followed an abandoned side road that made a big switchback to the NE and then S, gaining more elevation along the way.<\/p>\n<p>The side road leveled out near a huge rock, turned SE and looked like it was about\u00a0to start losing elevation.\u00a0 Lupe left the side road near the huge rock to climb Ingersoll Peak&#8217;s W slope.\u00a0 The slope was heavily forested, so it wasn&#8217;t possible to see very far ahead.\u00a0 After gaining\u00a0200 feet of elevation, suddenly the slope leveled out rapidly.<\/p>\n<p>A rock formation 50 feet away looked higher than anything else around.\u00a0 Subsequent exploration proved this rock formation was the true summit of <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=-59059\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ingersoll Peak<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(5,356 ft.)<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 Lupe needed a boost from SPHP to get up on the highest rocks.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9969\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9969\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4489.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-9969\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4489-1024x768.jpg?resize=660%2C495\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"495\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4489.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4489.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4489.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4489.jpg?w=1651&amp;ssl=1 1651w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_4489.jpg?w=1320&amp;ssl=1 1320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9969\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lupe reaches the summit of Ingersoll Peak!
