Lupe knew people looking for horse property in the Black Hills. Maybe she could earn a finder&#8217;s fee? She was disappointed when SPHP explained that she lacked the necessary real estate license. The summit area was large, thinly forested and quite flat. The highest point in the distance on the far L is <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=75908\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Flagpole Mountain<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(4,320 ft.)<\/span><\/strong>. The most distant of the low ridges in the foreground on the\u00a0R\u00a0may be part of <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=-50479\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Devil&#8217;s Slide Mountain<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(3,965 ft.)<\/span><\/strong>. To get there, Lupe would have to go all the way down to the big treeless patch of snow seen at Center below. From this pass, she could follow a road going first SW (R) then SE (L) up the mountain. The view of Peak 4310 to the SSW was splendid from here.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Another idea.\u00a0 Maybe Lupe was hungry?\u00a0 She was!\u00a0 She\u00a0devoured an entire bowl of Taste of the Wild.\u00a0 The poor Carolina Dog\u00a0was famished!\u00a0 Climbing two mountains already had built up an appetite.<\/p>\n<p>While Lupe was crunching happily away, SPHP noticed what appeared to be a structure near the W end of Peak 4310 where the true summit was supposed to be.\u00a0 A house or some sort of outbuilding?\u00a0 A tower was in view near it, too.\u00a0 Using the camera&#8217;s telephoto lens, SPHP saw that the structure was a shed of some sort, not a home.\u00a0 A road could also be seen winding up the NW side of the mountain to reach a high saddle E of the true summit.<\/p>\n<p>Even after dining, Lupe was perfectly content right where she was.\u00a0 However, it was time to press on.\u00a0 Puppy, ho!\u00a0 Picking a way down the steep, snowy slope took a while, but Lupe made it down to the pass.\u00a0 From the pass, she took the road up to the high saddle in the middle of Peak 4310.\u00a0 On the other side of the saddle, off to the SE, was another surprise.\u00a0 A\u00a0rather nice cabin was situated\u00a0in a wooded area.<\/p>\n<p>Peak 4310 has two high points at opposite ends of the mountain.\u00a0 The true summit is to the W.\u00a0\u00a0Slightly lower High Point 4304 is\u00a0to the E.\u00a0 Lupe went to check out\u00a0High Point 4304 first, passing to the N of the hidden cabin.<\/p>\n<p>At High Point 4304, Lupe found a large rock.\u00a0 From it, she had a great view to the SE down Red Canyon.\u00a0 She could see Angostura Reservoir, the largest lake in the Black Hills region.\u00a0 The lake is\u00a0formed by a dam on the Cheyenne River.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9214\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9214\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3948.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-9214\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3948-1024x768.jpg?resize=660%2C495\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"495\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3948.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3948.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3948.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3948.jpg?w=1651&amp;ssl=1 1651w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3948.jpg?w=1320&amp;ssl=1 1320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9214\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lupe on the big rock at the top of High Point 4304. As the sun tried to break through the clouds, it became noticeably warmer out. No venison for dinner, not even close, but it had still been a fun romp. By the time Lupe made it back up to the summit of the Seven Sisters Range, the sky was overcast again.
