ACHOOO! &#8230; in the Interpretive Centre, SPHP?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Bless you, Loopster!\u00a0 Are you ever going to get over these sneezing fits?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Oh, I sure hope &#8230; ACHOOO! &#8230; so, SPHP.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Me, too, and the sooner the better, Loop.\u00a0 Anyway, the news is about what I figured.\u00a0 Registration for backcountry camping permits opens in January, and they quickly get booked up months in advance.\u00a0 After that, no permits are available unless they get a cancellation.\u00a0 So, Divide Lake is out.\u00a0 Likely always will be for a couple of nomads like us.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What&#8217;s the plan then, SPHP?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Guess we&#8217;re done with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dempsterhighway.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Dempster Highway<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, Loop, so it&#8217;s on to Alaska!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Alaska!\u00a0 We&#8217;re &#8230; ACHOOO! &#8230; going back to Alaska?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It was the eventual plan all along, Sweet Puppy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>8-21-23, 2:36 PM, 65\u00baF<\/em> &#8211; At the junction with North Klondike Hwy No. 2, SPHP parked near the display at the start of the Dempster Highway so Lupe could get out and stretch.\u00a0 At Tombstone Park, the sky had been drearily overcast.\u00a0 Not so here.\u00a0 The weather was warm and beautiful.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_60939\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-60939\" style=\"width: 1651px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_2503-scaled.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-60939\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_2503-scaled.jpg?resize=660%2C495&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"495\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_2503-scaled.jpg?w=1651&amp;ssl=1 1651w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_2503-scaled.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_2503-scaled.jpg?w=1320&amp;ssl=1 1320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-60939\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Back at the <strong>start of the Dempster Highway<\/strong>. Lupe wanted out of the tiny house.\u00a0 SPHP let her go.\u00a0 A cool, overcast morning.\u00a0 SPHP thought nothing of it as fog drifted down among the lowlands of Hungry Hollow.\u00a0 The first part of the night had been tough, but, thankfully, SPHP&#8217;s paws were feeling somewhat better now.\u00a0 Lupe returned.<\/p>\n<p><em>Why aren&#8217;t you getting ready to go, SPHP?\u00a0 How are your paws?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Better, but what&#8217;s the rush?\u00a0 Another couple of hours of rest won&#8217;t hurt a thing, will it, Looper?\u00a0 Besides, it&#8217;s nice and cozy in the sleeping bag.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Carolina Dog had no objections to resuming her comfortable slumber.<\/p>\n<p><em>8-24-23, Base Camp, 2 hours later<\/em> &#8211;
