{"id":36116,"date":"2021-12-29T08:10:58","date_gmt":"2021-12-29T15:10:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/adventuresoflupe.com\/?p=36116"},"modified":"2022-04-03T08:52:16","modified_gmt":"2022-04-03T14:52:16","slug":"mount-leidy-gros-ventre-range-wyoming-7-2-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adventuresoflupe.com\/?p=36116","title":{"rendered":"Mount Leidy, Gros Ventre Range, Wyoming (7-2-21)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Days 10 &amp; 11 of Lupe&#8217;s 2nd Summer of 2021 Dingo Vacation to Wyoming!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>7-1-21, 7:00 AM, Holmes Cave trailhead 5 miles NW of Togwotee Pass (MP 20.7 of Hwy 287\/26)<\/em> &#8211;\u00a0 About ready to head out.\u00a0 Despite yesterday&#8217;s long trek to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=17297\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">North Breccia Cliffs<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(11,240 ft.)<\/span><\/strong>, Lupe had already been awake and alert when SPHP came to this morning.\u00a0 SPHP, on the other paw, was still feeling the effects, but no worries.\u00a0 This was going to be a rest day!\u00a0 Lupe didn&#8217;t have that far to go, and the RAV4 would get her there.<\/p>\n<p>Hitting Hwy 287\/26, SPHP turned R.\u00a0 Only 3 miles NW was a L turn onto USFS Road No. 30100, which was narrow, but in great shape.\u00a0 Quickly crossing Blackrock Creek, No. 30100 then went 7 or 8 miles SW through the forest, eventually reaching a signed intersection with No. 30160.<\/p>\n<p>Sticking with No. 30100, SPHP turned L.\u00a0 The road wound downhill for a mile before reaching the South Fork of Spread Creek.\u00a0 After following this stream S for 2 miles, No. 30100 turned sharply L to cross it.\u00a0 Not the way to go!<\/p>\n<p>Another road continued straight S from here.\u00a0 No signage, but this was USFS Road No. 30250, and <em>was<\/em> the way to go.\u00a0 During the next 4 miles, No. 30250 made a sharp turn to the R (W), climbed steeply, then leveled out and became quite stony along some stretches before reaching the E end of Leidy Lake.<\/p>\n<p>SPHP parked the RAV4 at a nice flat spot near the dam, and that&#8217;s where it remained the rest of the day, most of the time with a snoozing Dingo inside.\u00a0 Lupe ventured out occasionally to cool off in Leidy Creek, go for walks along Leidy Lake, or chase her squeaker ball.\u00a0 In the afternoon, the sky clouded up.\u00a0 Thunder rumbled for 2 hours, culminating in a brief rain shower, but that was it for excitement.\u00a0 Evening came, and so did the mosquitoes.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36071\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36071\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_1094.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-36071\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_1094-1024x768.jpg?resize=660%2C495\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"495\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_1094.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_1094.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_1094.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_1094.jpg?resize=1536%2C1152&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_1094.jpg?w=1651&amp;ssl=1 1651w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adventuresoflupe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_1094.jpg?w=1320&amp;ssl=1 1320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36071\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Evening at <strong>Leidy Lake<\/strong>.
