the Silver Trail after leaving Keno City &#8211;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Our last chance to climb<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=-72094\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> Mount Haldane<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(6032, ft.)<\/span><\/strong> again?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Probably, Loop.\u00a0 Now that you&#8217;ve been to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=-82937\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Sourdough Hill<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(4,739 ft.)<\/span><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=-82938\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Mount Hinton<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(6,752 ft.)<\/span><\/strong>, who knows if we&#8217;ll ever come back to the Silver Trail?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You should have bought that bunkhouse in Keno City, SPHP!\u00a0 We could have spent every summer up here!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Yeah, I know.\u00a0 The bunkhouse was darling.\u00a0 We&#8217;re heading on, though, Looper.\u00a0 You&#8217;ve got adventures ahead all over the place if we hit &#8217;em right.\u00a0 So how are you feeling?\u00a0 Up to Mount Haldane, or not?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If you can manage it, of course I want to go, SPHP!\u00a0 Mount Haldane was awesome!\u00a0 Not going to miss out on seeing it again, especially if this is my last chance ever.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After a late, late return last night, Lupe and SPHP had both slept like rocks.\u00a0 By the time a certain bleary-eyed Carolina Dog revived, the sun had already been shining brightly on a warm <em>(50\u00baF!)<\/em> Yukon morning.\u00a0 A leisurely breakfast at the Keno City campground chewed up most of what was left of the forenoon before Lupe had hit the Silver Trail again.<\/p>\n<p>Driving W after leaving Keno City, SPHP hadn&#8217;t been able to forget the glorious view of Mount Haldane at sunset during yesterday&#8217;s descent of Mount Hinton.\u00a0 The dominant peak to the W, Mount Haldane had stood out highlighted by a golden glow.\u00a0 Rows of mysterious blue-gray Yukon peaks stretched far beyond it beneath a gray sky.\u00a0 Incredibly beautiful!\u00a0 And to think that Lupe had once been up there!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25862\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25862\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" Mount Haldane exactly a year and a day ago.\u00a0 It was a splendid peak, with a good, known route culminating with a fabulous ridge hike and rocky scramble.\u00a0 With over 3,600 feet of elevation gain, Haldane would be an admittedly ambitious undertaking after the long trek yesterday, but no telling if Loop would ever be this close to the mountain again.\u00a0 This really might be her last opportunity.\u00a0 Just ahead by the Halfway Lakes, the Silver Trail would come within 2 miles of the trailhead.<\/p>\n<p><em>1:30 PM, 58\u00baF at the Mount Haldane trailhead &#8211;<\/em>\u00a0 Oh, yeah!\u00a0 It was on!\u00a0 Beneath a brilliant blue sky dotted with puffy white clouds, Lupe once again stood at the start of the trail to Mount Haldane.\u00a0 Another late start, but a fabulous day for it.\u00a0 Full of confidence, the Carolina Dog hit the sandy road that was part of a little triangle near the trailhead.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25910\"
