Photo looks SW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Loop would be getting to Peak 5733 soon enough.\u00a0 However, she stayed on the dirt road only a short distance before abandoning it to turn NW up a side valley.\u00a0 The lower end of this valley was forested and shady.\u00a0 Lupe was delighted to find some melting snow.\u00a0 Not much, but enough to cool off on, or get a mouthful of to wet her tongue reached a minor ridge where a young forest was full of slash.\u00a0 The slash was left over from efforts to thin the trees, but what a mess!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23627\" Lupe and SPHP finally got above it.\u00a0 The slope steepened, but this was still a lot easier than dealing with all the slash.\u00a0 Lupe kept going and eventually came to a top.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"caption-attachment-23629\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Thick forest and steeper terrain, but this is easier than all that slash!<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Loopster had made it up to Peak 5647&#8217;s summit ridge.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=-78177\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">topo map<\/span><\/strong><\/a> showed two summits on <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Peak<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=-78177\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">5647<\/span><\/a><\/strong> within 5640 foot contours.\u00a0 The true summit was presumably the 5,647 foot elevation point marked at the S end of the S contour.\u00a0 However, visual confirmation wasn&#8217;t going to be possible due to all the trees.<\/p>\n<p>Before heading S to look for the true summit, Lupe explored N along the ridge.\u00a0 She quickly came to a high point, although it wasn&#8217;t initially clear if this was Peak 5647&#8217;s N summit or not.\u00a0 Continuing N another 70 feet, Lupe found a small opening with a view of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=6236\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Black Elk Peak<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(7,231 ft.)<\/span><\/strong> and the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/peakbagger.com\/peak.aspx?pid=19822\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Cathedral Spires<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(6,840 ft.)<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23630\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23630\"
