For the fourth year running, the grandest Dingo Vacation of 2019 was Lupe’s six week journey to the far N!\u00a0 The Carolina Dog faced unique challenges and disappointments this time around, yet there were plenty of successes, too.<\/p>\n

The Most High Exalted Dingo of the Arctic Sisterhood managed to return to the Arctic Circle, but got no farther N.\u00a0 Turned back by a blizzard that ruined peakbagging plans in the nearby Richardson Mountains along the Yukon and Northwest Territories border, Lupe retreated S before heading to Alaska.<\/p>\n

In Alaska, Lupe faced the opposite problem.\u00a0 Forest fires filled the air with smoke, ruining views and often forcing cancellation of anticipated ascents completely.<\/p>\n

The American Dingo persevered, though!\u00a0 She saw Denali from Peak 4500 on K’esugi Ridge, visited the Root Glacier in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, braved the winds of Wolverine Peak, and climbed mighty Matanuska Peak in the Chugach Mountains.\u00a0 Before it was all over, she’d walked an ocean beach along Cook Inlet, explored the beautiful Racing River, and been stalked by Death at Donjek Crossing Mountain.<\/p>\n
